In Lachlan Court, young women stand, eagerly eyeing clouds of white – beautiful bouffants and silky satins lined up row after row for inspection in the window. But the Lachlan Court location is merely a stand-in – a “front” for Smik Boutique Clothing at 107 George Street. Here in the George Street location brides and bridesmaids congregate, oohing and aahing over the choices. Apparel drops to the floor, shoes thrust aside and mums watch over the proceedings with a nod (or not) of approval. Occasionally, a silent father stands off from the madness, somewhat hidden amongst the racks of shimmery evening wear, checking a price tag or two.

Smik staff is superb at pulling together the perfect headpiece or a delicate piece of jewellery for the wedding party and their patience and serenity through it all is amazing.

At the foot of George Street and housed in a charming old building is The Wedding Centre. A much-needed addition to the Hawkesbury wedding scene, the centre offers a one-on-one service to brides, grooms and all the wedding party. From accessories – headpieces, gloves, evening bags and exquisite jewellery – to the perfect attire – gorgeous dresses for the bride, bridesmaids and for mum – you need not leave the Centre to leap over every hurdle a wedding day can present. And across the entry foyer in a specific and private section, men have many choices of formal wear for hire. Yes, perhaps the choices are fewer, but the male contingent must make decisions, too!

Natalie Mitchell and her staff know how hectic the event can be and their goal is to “streamline your wedding” to reduce the effort. You don’t have to schlep through a dozen stores; every item is here including, wait now, shoes!
